Ron Queen has been involved in the game of baseball as a player and a coach for the past five decades.
As a player, Ron pitched for the Oregon American Legion State Champion Milton Freewater Twins that went on to finish ninth in the nation in 1979. Also in 1979, Ron pitched for DeSales High School in Walla Walla, Washington that placed third in the State for single A classification.
After high school, Ron went on to play college baseball in Kansas on an athletic and academic scholarship. Ron pitched for the Cavaliers who won four consecutive league championships in the Kansas Athletic Conference.
As a coach, Ron was the head pitching coach for Edmonds Woodway High School in 1995 and 1996 when the Warriors went undefeated to win the Wesco championship and placed sixth in the Washington Sate 3A classification. Ron was the head pitching coach at Seattle Prep High School, where the team won two consecutive Metro League Championships from 2001-2002, and three straight regional state playoff appearances at the 3A classification-2000, 2001, and 2002. 2004 Head JV Coach for the 1st ever Metro League JV Championship Team that went 17 wins and 3 losses and won the championship game 11-1 over Odea. Head Coach for the Strike Zone Red’s that finished fifth in Washington State Senior Babe Ruth Tournament in 2005, 4th place finish in Washington State Mickey Mantle Tournament in 2008, and 2nd place finish in Palomino Regional in 2009.
Ron has been working as a pitching and hitting instructor out of NWBI/Strike Zone and All-Star Sports Academy/The K Center since October 2002. Ron just celebrated completion of his 16,000 th lesson the end of May, 2013. Ron is currently the owner/operator of The Columbia City Reds Baseball Academy that is based out of The K Center. Ron provides hitting and pitching instruction to all Reds players.
The 2012 Reds finished 4th in The Washington State 14U Sandy Koufax Tournament and earned a Regional Playoff berth. The 2013 Reds finished 3rd in The Washington State 14U Sandy Koufax Tournament.
Ron coached the 2013 Rainier District Little League 10-11 year old All Stars won The District 7 Championship and went onto finish 6th at The Washington State Little Tournament in Gig Harbor. Many of the current 12u Reds played on the team. Ron is currently the coach of The Columbia City Reds 15u and 12u teams.
